I’m Sarah, a 32 year old resin and ink artist originally from a small village in County Durham, now living and creating in my home studio in Bedfordshire, in the UK.
I have been working with resin for over 15 years, I started using it in my early teens and after a few near misses with my teenage bedroom carpet I graduated to casting in my parents’ garage — much to their relief! Throughout school, university and even during my time travelling and working across the world I still found time to create, either through paint, clay, ink, photography or resin. I taught visual arts in a summer camp in New York for 3 years in my twenties and now I’m settled back in the UK, living in Bedfordshire and working a busy day job in central London.
I started sharing my art through instagram in June 2018, as a way of scrapbooking my progress through a new medium – using alcohol ink. Inspired by the inimitable and brilliant Josie Lewis I picked up alcohol inks for the first time this summer during some time away from my day job, and as I shared more of my work I started getting requests through my page – ironflowerink – to sell some of my pieces.
I make all of the pieces I list here myself – none are re-sold pieces. Every piece I sell includes a 10% donation to the MS Society in the UK, a leading charity which supports those who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
